A successful week of Junior Tennis in Stavanger

Week 41 marked an impressive milestone for Norwegian tennis as Stavanger Tennis Club hosted one of the largest ITF junior tournaments for players aged 18 and under ever held in the country. The event brought together top talents from across Europe, with even a few participants from outside the continent, raising the level of competition to a new standard.

With the support of tennis star Casper Ruud and dedicated sponsors, the club secured the resources necessary to deliver a high-caliber tournament. This strategic effort paid off, attracting some of the world’s best 15- and 16-year-old players. The stakes were high, with substantial ranking points awarded, far surpassing those of other national tournaments. The tournament in Stavanger was categorized as a J100, highlighting its competitive nature.

Tournament organizer Ole Storhaug noted the success: «This meant that we got better players in Stavanger than we have had before, including several among the world’s absolute best.» The club’s commitment extended beyond the courts, providing accommodations for quarterfinalists, semifinalists, finalists and international referees to ensure a professional experience.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with players commending the club’s smooth execution and attention to detail. This event was part of a series of three tournaments: two in Stavanger (both J100) and a final high-stakes tournament in Oslo during week 48, categorized as J200. The next Stavanger tournament is set for week 47, continuing the momentum and high standards set in week 41.
